About
Dr. Marc Kowalsky is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine and Shoulder & Elbow Surgery, practicing at the ONS offices in Greenwich, Harrison, and Stamford. After completing residency training at Columbia University Medical Center / New York Orthopaedic Hospital, he received fellowship training both in Sports Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital / Nicholas Institute for Sports Medicine & Athletic Research, and in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has a Certificate of Added Qualification for Sports Medicine from the ABOS.
Dr. Kowalsky has expertise in the surgical and conservative management of complex injuries of the shoulder and elbow, including instability, dislocation, tendon and ligament repair and reconstruction, joint replacement and fracture repair. He also has extensive experience in knee soft tissue repair and reconstruction, including cartilage, meniscus, and ligament injuries. Dr. Kowalsky also performs a range of shoulder replacement procedures, including total shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, and partial shoulder replacement.
Dr. Kowalsky has been recognized for his expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery and sports medicine nationally. He is Past President of the American Clinical & Elbow Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and has been inducted as a member of the prestigious Neer Circle of the ASES. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Membership Experience Committee. He published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has authored textbook chapters in shoulder & elbow surgery, and currently serves as Reviewer for the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery, and the Video Journal of Sports Medicine. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the ONS Foundation for Clinical Research & Education, and leads the foundation’s programs for student internship and career immersion.
Care of the competitive athlete is an essential component of Dr. Kowalsky’s practice. He has cared for athletes at every level of competition for many years. Dr. Kowalsky currently serves as team physician for the United States Rugby National Team. He also serves as team physician in his local community for Ardsley High School, Greenwich High School Rugby, Iona University Rugby, and the White Plains Rugby Club. He is Medical Director for Eastern Football Club.
Having played football in high school and rugby at Dartmouth College, Dr. Kowalsky has transitioned to endurance running, and has completed several New York City Marathons, and ultra-marathons.

His careful approach, grounded in scientific rigor, enables him to customize care for each patient to achieve optimal outcomes—a hallmark of his practice.
