DR. KOWALSKY, A SHOULDER AND ELBOW SURGEON AND SPORTS SPECIALIST, JOINS ONS COLLEAGUES  SETH MILLER, MD  AND PAUL SETHI, MD TO BECOME ONE OF ONLY ELEVEN MEMBERS FROM THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT. 

shoulder surgeon, elbow surgeonAt the recent Annual Meeting of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), Dr. Marc S. Kowalsky, was elected as an Associate Member of the Society. Membership in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons is by invitation only. Only experienced orthopedic surgeons who have completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery, elbow surgery, and/or sports medicine are considered for membership. Candidates must meet strict academic and clinical requirements to become members of ASES.

Congratulations to Dr. Kowalsky for achieving recognition from a prestigious society of peers and for earning this national honor so early in his career. Dr. Kowalsky joined ONS in 2015.

The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons was created to enhance the study of Conditions_shouldershoulder and elbow surgery and to foster advances in the field, serving as an educational body responsible for scientific programs and advances.  The Mission of the ASES is to support the ethical practice of evidence-based, high quality, cost-effective, shoulder and elbow care.

The society’s global impact is achieved through leadership, medical education, scientific research and patient advocacy.

The ASES is made up of leading national and international Orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in surgery of the shoulder and elbow. Through continuing medical education, the ASES Annual Meetings serve as a forum where persons involved in this field of medicine can meet, discuss new ideas and present scientific material. The worldwide membership currently consists of 663 members.

Dr. Kowalsky earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, where he also received an MBA in Health Management. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY. Dr. Kowalsky then completed two subspecialty fellowships, one in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital/Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma, and one in shoulder and elbow surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He has subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
