With expert care, a severe fracture is just a quick break from Kevin’s active lifestyle.

In January 2022, Kevin Downey was ready to enjoy a long weekend skiing in Vermont, but things quickly went downhill when he slipped on ice and broke his elbow the night he arrived.

Kevin returned home to Connecticut and saw Dr. David Wei, Hand, Wrist, and Elbow Surgeon at Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS), the following day. Dr. Wei took an X-ray and confirmed that Kevin had a severe break in his elbow. Due to the severity of the break, Dr. Wei recommended surgery.

“I was able to see Dr. Wei the next day. The care I received was immediate and outstanding. Dr. Wei was incredibly attentive and made me as comfortable as possible despite the circumstances,” Kevin said.

A few days later, Dr. Wei successfully repaired Kevin’s elbow by performing open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). Kevin was impressed with his  excellent follow-up care and felt well-informed and reassured throughout the entire process. While his treatment didn’t require formal physical therapy, Kevin was provided with at-home exercises to aid in his recovery.

Just a few short months following his surgery, Kevin was back to his active lifestyle, which includes traveling, skiing, and golfing. Kevin remains pain-free and regularly encourages friends and family to see Dr. Wei.

“Even though I never got to go skiing that weekend, I am extremely grateful for the care I received. Dr. Wei and his team took great care of me, and their dedication and professionalism did not go unnoticed. I highly recommend their services to anyone,” Kevin shared.
