Non-Surgical Solutions for Chronic Back Pain
December 6, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
With Christopher Sahler, MD, interventional pain management specialist at ONS and Alicia Hirscht, DPT, director of ONS Stamford physical therapy.
Roughly 80 percent of adults experience back pain at some point in their lifetimes. In 2010, a study by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke placed chronic back pain (pain lasting more than 12 weeks) as the third most burdensome condition in the US in terms of mortality or poor health caused by disease, with only ischemic heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ranking higher. In many cases, however, chronic low back pain can be alleviated through non-surgical measures. ONS’ interventional pain management specialist Christopher Sahler, MD and director of Stamford physical therapy, Alicia Hirscht, DPT, SCS, CSCS, will discuss common causes of low back pain and treatment options including physical therapy, medications and injections. There will be time for questions at the conclusion of the presentation. The program is free and open to the public. Register by phone at 203.863.4277 or online at www.greenwichhospital.org.
